Non-EU: Temporary Residence (Pink Slip)

Visitor / non-employed residence permit for non-EU nationals. Renewable annually. Income proof, health insurance, accommodation.

The Pink Slip is the temporary residence permit for non-EU nationals who
aren't actively employed in Cyprus — most often retirees, second-home
owners, and digital nomads on visitor status before switching to the
Digital Nomad route.

WHO IT'S FOR

· Non-EU citizens (post-Brexit, that includes UK)
· Not employed by a Cyprus business (work permit is separate)
· Has stable income from outside Cyprus
· Has accommodation (rental contract or property deed)

WHAT TO BRING

· Apostilled passport (full pages copied)
· Bank statements showing stable income — typically €10,000+ p.a. per
  applicant + dependents (€5,000 per child)
· Apostilled clean criminal record certificate (≤90 days old)
· Health insurance for Cyprus (private — must cover hospital +
  out-patient + accident)
· Rental contract or title deed for your Cyprus address
· 2 passport photos
· Application form (collected at CRMD)

THE FEE

€70 application + €70 residence card = €140.

THE TIMELINE

Submission to issuance: 8–14 weeks typical. Biometrics in person.
The interim period — your passport is held by CRMD; you receive a paper
acknowledgement letter that lets you stay legally in the meantime.

ANNUAL RENEWAL

Pink Slip is renewable yearly. Don't lapse it — re-applying after a gap is
much harder.

PATH FORWARD

After 5 continuous years on Pink Slips you may apply for permanent
residence. After 7 years (with strict ties + integration tests) you may
apply for citizenship.
